Nature-Based Coaching

Maybe you are a meaning seeker, a visionary, or perhaps you find yourself in the midst of a challenging life transition that has you wondering deeply about who you are and where to go from here.

Maybe traditional therapy or coaching seems incomplete to you and you are seeking clarity or healing through a transformative process that addresses all dimensions of humanness; physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual.

Or, maybe you are someone seeking to reconnect with nature and her rhythms, or someone who believes in a more compassionate and connected way of being in the world.

I am a trained and experienced ecopsychologist. For over 15 years I have been guiding people through personal transformation in natural settings, Nature is my co-guide.

Regardless of where you find yourself on life's journey, nature has the capacity to take us beyond the self and forges meaningful connections that act as a catalyst for transformation. It is as if nature speaks, making visible and meaningful the previously unseen. A bear becomes a symbol for inner strength, a tree reminds us of our inner resources, and a sunrise is a new beginning. These images act as guides that inform us of our desires and priorities and invite us to act accordingly.

Ecopyschology acts as a bridge between the fields of ecology and psychology to address the psychological roots of the ecological and human crises that civilization is experiencing. Fundamental to ecopsychology is our connection to nature. encourage a relationship with the natural world to help make sense of inner emotions and life experiences. Spending time in nature fosters awareness and interconnection to the world around us, providing the space for inward reflection and the potential for transformation. How we encounter and interpret the natural world creates a personal narrative that gives meaning to experiences and emotions allowing us to develop new ways of understanding ourselves and feeling fully integrated in our lives. Through connection with the natural world, we ultimately become connected to our ‘inner’ nature. Personal distress can be alleviated by developing the mutual connection between inside and outside.

The process of change I foster involves restoring balance to the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual dimensions, and adopting life-long practices that help to incorporate new behaviour and thought patterns into a congruent way of life that takes into account the larger picture. I view personal growth as a life-long practice and am able to support you in cultivating awareness of your unique gifts and how to share them with the world. The atmosphere I create is non-judgmental, safe, calm, inspirational, and focused.

My work as guide is to help reveal and cultivate the health and sanity which is already there rather than manipulate or modify people to be better adjusted. This requires a focus on healing through a process of whole-ing (recognizing the wholeness that already exists within), rather than fixing a problem by eliminating it; wholeness-centered (holistic) instead of pathology-centered.

I work with a range of practices including mindfulness and awareness, experiential activities, direct contact with nature, narrative therapy, grief work, environmental action, journaling, ritual and ceremony, spiritual journeying, and reiki.

The Program

If you're looking for support navigating a life transition or you're wanting to get in touch with the deeper, authentic parts of your self, consider working with me.

My nature-based coaching program is a year-long commitment. This allows us to experience a full cycle of nature's seasons and how each is mirrored in your life, helping you derive meaning for yourself in this world

In this model, each season corresponds to a cardinal direction or shield, and to a different dimension of humanness: Spirit in the East, Spring; Body in the South, Summer; Soul/Emotion in the West, Fall; and Mind in the North, Winter. Within each of these dimensions are gifts and traps. A healthy individual will successfully incorporate the gifts of each shield into their personality.

When someone becomes stuck in any one of the shields, traps or negative behaviour patterns emerge. If left neglected, these patterns can become problematic. The process of becoming un-stuck, or holistically healthy, involves engaging in activities and practices that touch on each of the dimensions of the shields. Through establishing a relationship with you, I will observe and help you become aware of where there is an imbalance in your shield dynamics. I will then work with you to help you fully experience and integrate healthy practices into your life that will support restoring harmony to each of your shields and tend to the areas that are undernourished. The objective is to move around the wheel, incorporating the gifts of all of the human dimensions into a holistic, congruent, and authentic way of being in the world, giving you a deep and rich understanding of your self and purpose.

In-Person Sessions

Our time together consists of 7 in-person sessions. These meetings range in length from a half day to a full day experience. All in-person sessions take place at my home office in the Sayward Valley, on 40 acres of private property bordering the Salmon River.

Together we will:

  • Examine the health of your physical, mental, emotional and spiritual dimensions. We will explore ways to support your areas of strength and examine strategies for nurturing areas that are undernourished, restoring harmony to your life.
  • Clarify your vision and purpose for the world by asking deep questions that allow your most authentic voice to emerge.
  • Examine old patterns and behaviours that get in the way of authentic living and explore effective ways to stay on track and live your vision.
  • Engage in activities designed to support your transformation.

Each session begins with making a conscious shift from our daily world pacing to a more present awareness of self and the natural environment. We do this with shifts in breath, and through practices of gratitude, mindfulness, and sensory awareness. A theme or intent for the day is explored through seasonal medicine walks and other specially designed eco-therapy activities. Whatever comes up for you during these sessions is part of your “Medicine.” I will lead you through a process where the story of your time on the land will be mirrored back to you, revealing the gifts of your experience.

You will be assigned work to complete independently before our next session. The exercises I assign are designed to help support the integration of your process.

I view personal growth as a life-long practice and am able to support you in cultivating awareness of your unique gifts and how to share them with the world. The atmosphere I create is non-judgmental, safe, calm, inspirational, and focused.

E-mail Communication

In between our in-person sessions we will communicate via e-mail up to twice weekly. The intent of this communication is to support your process of transformation, to touch base regarding any questions you may have, and to communicate regarding the exercises you are completing between our in-person sessions.

An Added Bonus

As an added bonus and in support of your process, I will give you access to the enriched version of the Awareness and Mindfulness in Nature course. The practices shared in this course are foundational. You will be expected to complete the material on your own. (value of the course - $240)

I've journeyed with Corinna and many shapes and forms over the years, through Vision Quest, sweat, Medicine walks, reiki, and spending time at Ravenwood. She holds a deep reverence for life, the land and its beings and shares this in many ways; through story telling, nature based rituals and simply by the way she walks in the world. Her keen listening and ability to see my stories and struggles within a broader realm such as the medicine wheel has helped me a lot over the years. I would recommend working with Corinna, especially up at Ravenwood where the land and it's being support such beautiful work. -Isabelle Laplante, Nurse

Corinna’s gifts are palpable and her compassion and wisdom have the ability to create safe and sacred spaces for others to reconnect with their inner knowing, to cultivate their wholeness and to tend to anything that is not at peace in their spirit. Corinna invites you to lean in and trust you are safe to cross the threshold of healing. She invites you to trust in loving kindness, connection and compassion - to trust your inner knowing. She guides with love, dignity, wisdom, connection and respect for all our relations.  Her ability to hold space for others is nothing short of remarkable.

I have grown and transformed under her mentorship. I have healed and learned to tend to deep grief. She has guided me through a vision quest, an apprenticeship in the work that reconnects, and the wild woman retreat. All of these experiences have guided my unfolding transformation and allowed me to trust in myself and my gifts so that I can share my best self with all of our relations. - Catherine Howe, Youth Worker

Amazing is just one of the many phrases that comes to mind when I think of Corinna.  It is rare that you come across someone so unique and loving.

It was in 2006 when my life was spinning out of control. I was diagnosed with a incurable illness and had very energetic teens who did not fit into the "High School" environment. After a lot of research I found Corinna. She took my children under her wing, mentored and counselled each one of them during those thundering years. I am in awe of her ability to handle any situation-effortlessly and to this day my kids still have a special bond with Corinna and her family.

I still attend Corinna's workshops. She has a great ability to juggle and guide you so that by the end of the day you might be tired but you will always have a smile on your face.

Ravenwood will always have a special place in my heart as I have witnessed many special things emerging from that healing forest. Corinna is the heart of the environment. Over the many years I've known Corinna I have developed an enduring respect for her work and commitment to her clients. - Helen Bender

I have had the pleasure and honour of knowing and working with Corinna for more than 15 years. One of the first things I noticed about her was her ability to bring out the best in everyone around her. Many times, I saw her effortlessly bring peace to struggling youth and their counsellors in volatile situations, helping them to value themselves and each other. More recently, I have observed her reach out to adults seeking healing and meaning for themselves. In all of this, she embodies a loving and clear heart and a beautiful generosity of spirit. She is a natural and charismatic leader of groups, whether in program work or in ceremony.

Corinna touches people with direct and compassionate wisdom. Her presence and guidance change people’s lives for the better. She weaves beautifully together the ways of her Métis heritage and the power of Nature with the practices of ecopsychology, bringing her own unique combination of these pathways to her work with clarity and intention.

Her courageous dance with multiple myeloma is an inspiration to all who know her. She is an adoring and supportive partner and mother. I admire, respect, and love Corinna, and I recommend her as a guide and therapist with no hesitation. Wes Gietz, Life Coach, Healer, Elder
