The Chrysalis

A 5-day personal transformation retreat specially created for women seeking to define and express who they are authentically in this world.

Within a safe and non-judgmental circle of sisterhood the 2017 Wild Women Retreat will invite you to turn inward and explore the mansions and memory of soul, the realm of conscious feeling. You will ignite your organic relationship to the forces of nature and learn what it means to alchemize darkness into light. Through Dancing Freedom, sensory awareness, and ritual you will tend to your inner fire and manifest authentic self.

This workshop is experiential and includes both group work and time in solitude in nature. Individual experiences will be processed in small groups with the intent of supporting integration and learning.

By the end of our time together you will deepen your understanding of the healing and restorative qualities of nature, rekindling your relationship to your wild self and renewing your connection to the Earth.

The 2017 Wild Women's Retreat includes activities in the following areas

  • Reconnection to self, others, and nature
  • Embodiment of Wild Self
  • Sensory awareness and mindfulness practices
  • Time in solitude with nature
  • Self-generated ceremony and ritual
  • Trance drumming and spiritual journeying
You will be invited to participate in
  • An outdoor Wild Women Dancing Freedom ceremony
  • Earth-based Ritual
  • Women's sharing circles
  • A sweat lodge ceremony (provided fire bans are not in effect)
While there will be lots of time spent outdoors, physical activity will not exceed the capabilities of most people.

The fee for the retreat is $470 - $630 (+ food and accommodation).  We have established a sliding scale in order to make this program accessible to a wide range of people. We have set forth no criteria and trust that each individual will pay what they feel is appropriate.

Discount for returning participants: We love to see our Wild Women Sisters return annually for this retreat. The fee for returning participants is $235 (+ food and accommodation).

The exchange is for instruction, teachings, and guidance during the retreat. There is no charge for ceremony. The exchange also covers expenses such as food, land rental, supplies, and travel expenses. It is what enables us to continue to offer this program to those who are called to it.

$100 deposit will secure your registration. Space is limited. Please register early to avoid disappointment.

Accommodation and meals are arranged at an additional fee. See details below to choose a suitable option for you.

Workshop Location

The Wild Women's Retreat is held at CanAdventure Education’s beautiful Ravenwood Forest Camp located on 40 private acres bordering the crystal clear waters of the Salmon River in the Sayward Valley. The land features majestic old-growth forest, grassy meadows, and many species of edible, medicinal, and culturally significant plants. Visitors are graced with regular visits from a local herd of Roosevelt Elk, and the annual salmon run draws in wildlife of all kinds, including black bears and bald eagles.

Facilities include a 1,500 square foot lodge with full kitchen, a traditional sweat lodge, a cabin and prospector-style wall tents for shared accommodation, and hot showers. Electricity, phone, and internet service are also available.

Arrival & Closing

We will officially begin the retreat with an opening ceremony at 7PM on Day 1. You may arrive anytime after 3PM to set up and settle in. Although we will be present to direct you to camping spots and answer questions, we will be busy prepping the retreat on that day. Please plan on taking care of yourself until the opening ceremony. If you arrive early enough for supper, you are invited to join us for a potluck dinner at 5:30 PM. Please bring a food item to share.

The closing ceremony will take place on the last day. You can expect things to be fully wrapped up by 4PM

Ravenwood is a wilderness camp. Rustic indoor shared accommodation options are available on a first-come basis. There is also plenty of space to pitch a tent. For those who prefer less rustic accommodation, there are some options available in Sayward. Our days will start early and finish late. If you are choosing this option we strongly recommend staying nearby.

Tent sites: The forest at Ravenwood offers a beautiful sleeping option. In the spirit of sharing its beauty there are no set fees for camping. Instead, you are requested to make a donation that reflects what you'd like to give back to the land. Money received through donations will be used for the upkeep and maintenance of the land and camp facilities.

If you're wondering what might be an appropriate donation, here are the per night fees for other nearby campsites:

  • Sayward Valley Resort: $23/night
  • Village of Sayward Camp Site: $15/night
  • Schoen Lake Provincial Park: $11/night

Cabin: $12.00 per night. The cabin is a rustic bunkhouse that sleeps up to 10 comfortably. Wood stove and electricity are available.

Barn Loft: $30.00 per night per room. The loft features 2 bedrooms that sleep 2-3 people comfortably and an open space common room. Electricity is available. There is a ladder leading up to the loft space which means you'll have to be comfortable climbing to access this space.

A basic and delicious vegetarian food package with eggs and dairy is available at $30.00 per day. There is no charge for food on the first day and a reduced fee on the last. In the spirit of community, participants help with meal preparation and cleanup. If you are choosing this option you must let us know by August 19, 2017

Total cost for the food package: $105.00.

An outdoor cooking space is provided for those with special dietary needs or who prefer to prepare their own meals. With respect for our animal friends and the forest, outdoor cooking is only allowed in this designated space.
